Next week, we will be starting Unit 2 of our Opening the World to Learning Curriculum. This unit focuses on friends and friendships. Please see below for next week's centers, stories, and reminders! Washing Dishes (WATER): Observes and explores materials and objects in the environment. Practices strategies for promoting cleanliness. Pizza Paintings (ART): Creates two-dimensional artwork. Explores and experiments with basic shapes and lines in artwork. Builds finger dexterity and uses thumb/forefinger in pincer grasp. Exploring Pizza Dough (SCIENCE): Uses language to describe observations. Describes the physical properties of objects. Friendship Pictures (WRITING): Creates artwork to express thoughts, feelings, and energy. Talks about understanding of relationships among people. Chooses artwork for display in class book and explains the choices. OWL Stories: "The Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza" by Philemon Struges "A Letter to Amy" by Ezra Jack Keats Religion: "I Have Two Hands" Reminders: -No School on Wednesday, 11/11 Veteran's Day -We try to get outside daily, weather permitting. We had such a fun day celebrating Halloween in our classroom! We enjoyed delicious party snacks, danced to Halloween music, and played some Halloween games! Check out our pictures below. We have successfully completed our first unit of our OWL curriculum! We will take this week off to work on name writing, self portraits, and start decorating our classroom for Halloween! Please see centers below. Self Portraits (SELF AWARENESS) Bubble Names (FINE MOTOR/WRITING) Halloween Cats (ART) Franken-faces (MATH/ART) We will celebrate Halloween in school on Thursday, 10/29. Students will dress in their costumes, we will play Halloween themed games, and have a Halloween party with some treats at snack time! Please send your child to school wearing their costume on Thursday. Be mindful that your child will still need to wear their appropriate face covering throughout the school day. Costume masks do not substitute as a face covering. Please do not send in accessories (wands, shoes, weapons, etc.) Your child will not need their uniform or a change of clothes. Children will wear their costume all day. Please make sure they can easily get in and out of their costume on their own when using the bathroom. Have a great weekend! ~Ms. Kristen Hello, families!
